the needle and the damage done

Saturday, March 25, 2006

last night i went over to joy's to see a new video game she's just gotten. my path happened to take me right past cheapo records in central square, so i ducked in to see what was new. i walked out w/ two decently cheap finds:
1. the third record i pulled out of the 'just in' bin was by george mccrae. my man sean was just big upping this guy to me the other night. he'd heard on some miami funk compilation george mccrae's version of 'i get lifted' and sent it to me; it's pretty funky, i must say. the album is 'rock your baby' and i flipped it to see - yup, this is the one. there were two other george mccrae albums there that looked interesting, but i didn't want to spent a bunhc of money that i didn't have, so i just picked up this and
2. t-connection - on fire. this is the album w/ 'groove to get down', a track i have always loved since i heard jazzy jeff flip it at the end of 'he's the dj, i'm the rapper'. while back then i didn't know what was what, sometime in college i started to learn about this and put this song on my short list. i've got it on ub&b but that's not the same, now is it?
\i also picked up cds by mickey and the soul generation, ju-par orchestra, and lee fields. i need to get an income so i can continue this.
